New Directions in Labour Market Information... is
an initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Advanced Education,
together with other public and private sector partners,
to provide British Columbians with enhanced career, learning
and labour market information for planning and decision
making purposes.
In today's world, efficient and timely
collection, processing, analysis and application of information
is viewed as an essential requirement for effective planning
and decision making. This is particularly true in the case
of career, learning and labour market information (LMI),
where both individuals and organizations are making human
capital investment decisions based on current and future
trends and developments in the labour market.

in researching, developing and distributing LMI products
and services to a wide range of audiences in the province.
Formation of joint stakeholder partnerships and alliances
was identified as a critical factor in the success of this
initiative. In addition, a well-developed strategy and management
plan, effective marketing and communications, and adequate
